It's our 18th community newsletter – and it’s a juicy one!  If you’re new around here, welcome – we’ll pop into your inbox every few weeks with a mix of product updates, announcements, tips and tricks, helpful resources, and interesting articles.

📧 You’ve got mail 📧

Introducing our newest flagship feature: newsletters! While we've always supported building email lists using Drops and sending email campaigns, we're introducing newsletters as a proper headline feature with all the bells and whistles: hosted pages, customizable emails, new block types, scheduling, and more.

To try it out, just click "Write a newsletter" on your dashboard or tap the Newsletters tab in the lefthand side menu. You can publish newsletters to their own hosted page as well as send an email version to all of your subscribers – and you can even tweak the email version and introduce personalized elements, like addressing subscribers by name or prompting them to share their referral link.

We've also incorporated support for newsletters into events and Drops. When creating an event or Drop, you can now choose to show a newsletter opt-in checkbox as part of the flow. If you're using Zapier to pair Norby with an external email provider like Mailchimp, that opt-in will be exposed in your Zaps so you can appropriately manage followers there as well.

We've got lots more planned for newsletters, including paid subscriptions and unlockable content, but let us know if there are specific features you'd like to see by replying to this email!

🛠 New blocks 🧱

We've been continually adding new block types to our page editor, which you'll notice got a bit of a redesign this week. You can now also insert blocks at arbitrary positions instead of creating them and then dragging them into place.

Check out our recently-released YouTube and Vimeo blocks and try adding a video to your link in bio!

☎️ Say hi 📇

When one of your followers texts you or receives a text campaign from you for the first time, they'll now receive a contact card they can easily save on their phone. The contact card will automatically be populated with your avatar and name from the profile section in your dashboard.

🧪 Testing, testing, 123... 🧪

You can now send test emails and text messages for any of your draft or scheduled campaigns. To try it out, just tap the "..." on the right side of any draft or scheduled campaign and tap "Send test message."

🎨 A little redecorating 🎨

We've done a bit of redecorating this week to make things more clear. In particular, we've made two important changes:

  • Feeds are now pages. When we first built feeds, they were a simple list of your upcoming events. Since then, they've evolved into full blown landing pages and link in bios, so we've switched to calling them what they are: pages. Otherwise, they'll continue to function as you're used to – you can still create as many as you want and even embed them on other sites.
  • We've redesigned the lefthand sidebar. Our list of content types has continued to grow and we've introduced a lot of new features since the last time we redesigned our navigation and it was in need of some cleaning up. You'll find all of your content types (links, pages, events, newsletters, etc) under the Content tab in the lefthand side menu now, and we've made it easier to get to your integrations as well.
